School Activities and Public Events

Higher Vocational School and Secondary School of Electrical Engineering Olomouc regularly organises public events to present the school, its study programmes and modern technologies. These include conferences, study visits and academic competitions, open to our own students, pupils from other schools and the general public.

Electrical Engineering

Educational programme: Automation and Communication Systems

About:

This programme is intended for students interested in computer science, programming, automation, electronics, and computer and telecommunications networks who plan to continue their studies at a technical university or higher vocational school after graduation, as well as for those who wish to enter technical professions directly or start their own business.

Capacity: 60 students
Students choose their specialisation after the second year.

Study focus:

The programme is a four-year course leading to the Maturita examination. It focuses on computer hardware and software, automation, computer networks, electronics, data transmission, optical networks, and mobile communications. Extended foreign language instruction is an integral part of the curriculum, primarily in English, with German or French offered as a second foreign language.

During the first two years, students follow a common core curriculum. From the third year onwards, they choose between the Automation Systems and Communication Systems specialisations.

Graduates are prepared to obtain Cisco Networking Academy certification. Students also have the opportunity to complete a practical graduation examination in specialised subjects in the form of a long-term project, including its presentation and final defence.

Career opportunities

Graduates may continue their studies at universities or higher vocational schools specialising in technical fields, or enter the labour market directly.

Possible career paths include:

  • Network administrator for small and large companies and organisations
  • Technician for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems
  • Electronics designer and device technician
  • Automation and security systems technician
  • Technical specialist for fixed and mobile communication networks
  • Service technician and sales specialist in low-voltage technologies
  • Programmer and information systems administrator
  • Technical specialist in the design, engineering, and implementation of automation systems.

Technical Lyceum

Educational programme: Technical Lyceum – Information Technology Specialisation

This programme is designed for students interested in technology, natural sciences, and information technology who wish to further develop their skills in these fields. The curriculum focuses on programming, web technologies, computer networks, graphics and design, and 3D printing, providing a solid foundation for university or higher vocational studies, as well as direct entry into the IT sector.

Capacity: 30 students

Study focus

The programme is a four-year course culminating in the Maturita examination. During their studies, students acquire a strong foundation in natural sciences, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and descriptive geometry, as well as advanced foreign language skills in English and German.
Students also gain knowledge in specialised subjects such as programming, computer networks, computer graphics and design, CAD systems, 3D printing, communication technologies, and microprocessor technology. The IT specialisation is integrated throughout the entire programme.
Students have the opportunity to obtain Cisco Networking Academy certification. They may also complete a practical graduation examination in the form of a long-term project with a final defence.

Career opportunities

Graduates are well prepared for university studies or higher vocational education, particularly in technical and science-oriented fields. They are also qualified for direct employment in the IT sector, including positions in:

  • Private entrepreneurship and technical, economic, or business roles related to information systems development
  • Computer network administration
  • Application development and operation
  • Computer graphics and design
  • Technical and economic IT-related positions in private-sector companies
  • International companies, supported by strong language skills
  • Internships and practical placements in partner organisations.

Higher Vocational School

Educational programme: Applied Information Technology

Specialization: Telecommunications and Automation or Economics

This is a three-year post-secondary vocational programme in Applied Information Technology with specialisations in Telecommunications and Automation or Economics. The programme follows a university-style study model, and graduates are awarded the title DiS.

Internships with partner companies during the course of study significantly support graduates’ future employment opportunities.

Erasmus+

Our school is currently preparing an application for Erasmus+ Accreditation in Vocational Education and Training (KA120-VET), with submission planned for October 2026. The application will focus on short-term mobility activities for students and staff. In this context, we are seeking a partner school for future cooperation. Cooperation with Partner Organisations

Our school cooperates with a number of partner organisations, including companies and institutions such as Palacký University Olomouc. These partnerships provide students with opportunities to undertake internships, gain practical experience in real working environments, and establish professional contacts that may lead to future employment in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and software development.

Since September 2013, our school has held the status of a Faculty School of the Faculty of Science at Palacký University Olomouc, enabling students to participate in professional excursions and university-based placements. Cooperation between the institutions also includes support for talented students, teaching practice placements for Faculty of Science students at our school, and the preparation of joint grant projects.
